Last summer, we embarked on our most ambitious musical project to date, bringing
Geoff Zanelli’s expansive Squadron 42 soundtrack to life. Under the baton of orchestrator and conductor Oscar Senén, six days of recording at Abbey Road Studios produced 2.5 hours of incredible music, which many of you heard during the CitizenCon 2954 Gameplay Reveal, with more to come!
The ensemble:
- 96-piece orchestra
- 40-piece choir (London Voices)
- 6 bagpipes (yes, real bagpipes!)
- 131 tracks recorded
- 64 minutes recorded
- 75+ microphones
- 6,000+ bars of music
- 24,000+ pages of sheet music
Take a look at the evolution of music in Squadron 42, from digitally created sounds to the rich tones of a real orchestra.
We’re bringing the symphony to your pocket – now you can answer the call with the sound of a space-faring adventure. Because nothing says Monday morning work calls quite like an epic dose of bagpipes.

What is the quantum-fuel capacity of the Fortune, and how does it compare to the Vulture?
- The MISC Fortune shares its fuel capacity with the Prospector series, as both ships utilize a similar hull and framework. When compared to the Drake Vulture, the Fortune boasts a larger quantum-fuel-storage capacity, enabling extended ranges for salvaging operations.
Currently, the Vulture can hold up to 39 SCU of salvage in its internal cargo. What is the maximum SCU capacity of the Fortune, including buffer?
- From internal testing, we found that an additional 18 SCU can be placed in an unsecured manner within the ship itself. This is in addition to the 12 SCU external cargo grids, the small 4 SCU grid on the rear cargo lift, and the filler station’s internal buffer, which is currently 13 SCU.
Can the Fortune perform Structural Salvage?
- The Fortune can perform Fracture and Structural Salvage, which is helped by its salvage whiskers. However, due to having a single salvage head, it does not have access to alternate scraping modes.
How does salvage gameplay differ between the Vulture and Fortune? What are the unique advantages of using a Fortune over a Vulture?
- Thanks to its automatically loading side cargo grids, the Fortune emphasizes convenience over salvage speed. Without an Abrade salvage head by default, it will hull scrape at a lower rate than the Vulture.
Citizens can pick up the Red Festival Envelope Display during the Red Festival event as a celebratory gift.
Oh yeah, with regards to the Fight for Pyro event:
If you have previously completed Save Stanton (Chapter 1) as well as Fight for Pyro (Chapter 2), you will also receive a set of faction-specific ship liveries at the conclusion of the event for the:
Anvil C8R Pisces
Anvil Carrack
Drake Cutter
RSI Zeus Mk II
These were mentioned here before.
Quote: The night’s uncertainties.
We wanted to take a moment to update you on the current experience and where our focus is as we work toward rolling out 4.0.1 and beyond.
As we mentioned in the Letter from the Chairman in December, our top priority is playability - ensuring that your experience in the ‘verse is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. That means dedicating all our resources to improving stability, addressing critical issues, and delivering meaningful quality-of-life updates.
With that in mind, we’ve made the decision to forgo the Red Festival Free Fly. This reinforces what we said in December: Star Citizen needs to work, and it needs to work well. Right now, our focus is on continued hotfixes and subsequent patches to bring the experience to a much better place.
While there’s no single patch that will instantly get us to where we want to be, 4.0.1 was an important first step. It included a massive list of fixes, but some of the nastier issues impacting your experience remain. Below, you’ll find a list of some of our top-priority issues currently being worked on.
Overarching Topics:
- Elevator in the Room
- Character Stowing and Repair
- Hangar Woes
- Load Times and Initial Load
- Mission Issues
- Quantum Travel and Starmap
- LTP and Keeping What You Earn
Further to this, next Thursday, Feb 6th on a special two-hour SCL, Jared Huckaby will be joined by CTO Benoit Beausejour to go deeper into these issues covered above, what’s causing them, what’s being done, and how our feature and stability plans for 2025 will build over the year to restore the functionality and quality of life to the persistent universe that we all want.
