Star Citizen July monthly report details ship progress, AI work and network upgrades

Cloud Imperium Games’ July 2026 monthly report for Star Citizen points to broad development progress across ships, AI, environmental systems and backend technology.

On the ship side, the report says work advanced on several vehicles, including the RSI Galaxy, Drake Kraken and Anvil Liberator. The Galaxy moved further through white box with new visual and layout work for areas such as the bridge, engineering spaces, corridors and rear hangar. The Kraken passed gray box, while the Liberator continued toward review after an extended white box phase. The report also notes progress on the Kruger Stingray, which cleared a combined LOD0/final gate review, alongside movement on two unannounced ships.

AI and creature development also saw continued updates. The team refined NPC combat behavior, including heavy fighter flight patterns and human combat logic, while creature work focused on the valakkar and other fauna. The report highlights new animations, bug fixes and behavior tuning intended to make creature encounters more consistent and more dangerous. Animation work continued alongside the new creature content, including attack-related work for the apex valakkar.

Character art supported the creation of player loadouts and polished upcoming super-heavy armor, suggesting more streamlined gear management may be on the way. The report also mentions new mission reward items and continued support for later-year content.

On the gameplay and narrative front, the team supported the Siege of Orison mission content and work tied to upcoming instanced gameplay and new mission providers. The report also references mission and storyline support for new guild-related content and other planned gameplay styles.

Environmental and visual technology made more progress as well. The graphics team improved lighting and reflections, while the R&D team worked on a more localized weather system with temperature, humidity and elevation factors affecting precipitation and storms. Cloud rendering also received performance and visual upgrades.

A major focus of the report was online technology. The network and services teams continued work on dynamic server meshing, smarter load management and spatial mapping to improve how the game distributes responsibility across servers. The goal is to better handle player demand, stabilize large events and improve scalability. Related work included item recovery systems, server stability improvements and tooling updates for live operations.

Taken together, the July report suggests Star Citizen’s development remains spread across the game’s most important pillars: ships, AI, weather, mission content and the network systems needed to support them at scale.
