In this video, the host showcases the Argo SRV, a tractor beam tow ship in Star Citizen’s Alpha 3.21.1 PTU. Although the tractor beam is currently buggy and not fully functional, it will eventually be able to tow ships and move cargo. The host mentions that they will explore these capabilities in a future video when the bugs are resolved. The SRV is a medium-sized ship with a simple and industrial design, typical of Argo ships. The pilot can control the large rear tractor beam from the pilot seat, allowing them to lock on and tow objects or ships while still being able to fly the ship.
Moving to the rear section of the ship, there are several ship components that are currently placeholders until the resource management system and physicalized components are properly implemented. The ship has enough room for ship maintenance and features a lift for accessing different levels of the ship. Inside the rear section, there is a small kitchenette, a bed for resting, seats for two people, a suit locker, and an armory with a gun rack. Additionally, there is a shower and toilet combo.
The Argo SRV is expected to be extremely useful for towing ships, cargo, mining, and salvage gameplay. It will allow players to rescue others by towing their ships while having space for someone to sit or rest in the back. Tractor beams are not exclusive to the SRV, as other ships like the C1 and the Cutlass Black will also have this feature in the 3.21.1 patch. Despite the current bugginess of the tractor beam, these ships are a welcome addition to the game.
The video ends with the host mentioning that the Argo SRV and C1 should be available for purchase in-game by early 2024. They also mention a giveaway of different ships to celebrate the Interstellar Aerospace Expo 2953. The host expresses gratitude to their Patreon and channel members for their support, enabling them to create daily content for Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
