Star Citizen Alpha 4.4 introduces the new Nyx star system with the landing zone Levki, the asteroid Delmar, new gameplay activities like mining and combat against the Vandal faction, and sets the stage for future planetary exploration with advanced graphics technology. The update also features the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2955 with new ships, events, and giveaways, offering players fresh content and immersive experiences.
Star Citizen Alpha 4.4, arriving in November, introduces the new Nyx star system, though it won’t be as fully developed initially as the Pyro system was at launch. The first build features the hero landing zone Levki and the massive asteroid Delmar, which offers extensive cargo gameplay opportunities, including for large ships like the Hull C. Levki is an old mining facility now controlled by the People’s Alliance faction, equipped with modern amenities such as repair, rearm, refuel, shops, a hospital, and living pods. The area presents a unique gameplay environment with varying gravity levels and is neither fully secure nor lawless, providing a fresh experience for players.
Nyx will connect to both the Pyro and Stanton systems via jump points, facilitating intersystem travel and cargo hauling missions. The patch introduces a variety of activities including mining, salvage, and combat in the Glacium Belt, a large asteroid and gas cloud field. Players will encounter a new hostile faction called the Vandal, who pilot new ships like the Vandal Stinger heavy fighter. The storyline “Welcome to Nyx” continues the overarching narrative involving ASD and introduces repeatable missions and contracts centered around a previously abandoned QV logistics station that is periodically attacked by the Vandal.
While Nyx contains three planets, none will be landable or fully featured in the initial 4.4 release. The rocky planets of Nyx will debut next year with the new Genesis planet tech v5, which offers significant visual improvements such as better terrain and scattering effects. This new tech is expected to phase out older DirectX 11 support in favor of Vulkan, enhancing the game’s graphical fidelity. Alongside this, players can expect new mission types, events like the rock cracker asteroid-breaking activity, instanced tactical battles, and cooperative gameplay elements.
The patch also coincides with the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2955, starting on November 20th and lasting a couple of weeks. This event will showcase several new ships and vehicles, including the anticipated Perseus Gunboat and possibly an Apollo variant, with a free-fly period allowing players to try out the new content. The expo will also feature new skins, armor, weapons, and discounted game packages, making it an ideal time for new and returning players to engage with Star Citizen.
Finally, the video highlights ongoing community engagement and giveaways, including a ship giveaway for October with five ships awarded to different winners. The creator encourages viewers to comment on videos for a chance to win and promotes peripherals like the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 for enhanced immersion. Overall, Alpha 4.4 promises to be a significant update that expands Star Citizen’s universe, introduces new gameplay mechanics, and sets the stage for future content in the Nyx system and beyond.
