Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 Is HUGE! Instancing, New Weapons & Siege of Orison Returns

Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 introduces major features like instanced co-op FPS missions with the revamped Siege of Orison, improved ship fuel mechanics, and enhanced ship recovery systems, alongside new weapons, AI upgrades, and transit improvements. Currently in PTU testing, the patch aims to enrich gameplay variety and mission depth while addressing performance and exploit fixes ahead of its mid-August release.

Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 is a significant upcoming patch expected to go live by mid-August, bringing a variety of gameplay changes and new features. One of the most notable additions is the reintroduction of the Siege of Orison, now revamped as a first-person shooter (FPS) co-op instance dungeon. This updated version focuses on team-based gameplay where players assault Ninetails control platforms in coordinated efforts without the need for ship travel between objectives. The mission supports instancing, allowing multiple teams to participate simultaneously in separate instances, enhancing the overall player experience.

Instancing is a major new feature in Alpha 4.10, enabling players to enter unique mission lobbies with their party. This system improves the flow and accessibility of the Siege of Orison, which is designed for groups of four to six players but may support different group sizes. Players can access the siege by traveling to the top of the Crusader showroom building in Orison and taking a tram to the launch platform. The mission features improved enemy AI, new boss encounters, and substantial rewards including exclusive loot like super heavy combat armor and specialized weapons such as the Apocalypse Arms Vendetta HMG and the Hedge Gun Works Arlington lever-action rifle.

The patch also introduces significant changes to ship fuel mechanics, with fuel tank capacities being reduced to better align with ship sizes and roles. Although hydrogen fuel ranges are generally decreased by 30-40%, quantum fuel tanks for exploration and industrial ships have increased capacity and reduced consumption rates, resulting in longer effective travel distances for these vessels. Additionally, improvements to ship loadout recovery are being implemented, including timed claims, optional expedite fees, and free recovery options for losses beyond player control, such as cargo lost in freight elevators or ship destruction in hangars.

Other updates in Alpha 4.10 include enhancements to the transit system with more robust and self-repairing elevators and cargo grids, increased effective range for medical guns, and various economy tweaks and mission updates. New items such as a Drake Clipper with a unique skin and upgraded components are also added. The patch aims to deepen the narrative context of the Siege of Orison with support missions focused on rebuilding efforts following the Ninetails raid, although some fabrication missions were noted to be broken in early PTU testing. Performance, AI behavior, exploit fixes, and VR support are also areas receiving attention ahead of the live release.

While the patch is currently in PTU testing with some reported issues related to AI desynchronization and instancing, the developers are actively working to resolve these problems before the official launch. The community is encouraged to share feedback and experiences to help refine the update. The video also highlights a July ship giveaway featuring the Gatac Touise snub carrier and provides links to various Star Citizen-related tools and services. Overall, Alpha 4.10 promises to be a substantial update that enhances gameplay variety, mission design, and technical systems within Star Citizen.
