    • Adding multiple new vehicles and equipment to the ever-expanding Wikelo’s Emporium: RSI Meteor and the Guardian MX, with upgraded components and a unique base livery. These rewards can be unlocked by completing Wikelo’s contracts.

This card has received a new visual.

  • MaxOx Neutron Cannon Art Refactors
    • Updating several MaxOx Neutron Cannons’ art style and geometry: Size 1, 2, and 3.

This card has been set to Tentative.

  • Exterior Freight Elevators
    • Adding new ways of loading and unloading cargo in the currently available systems: Nyx, Stanton, and Pyro.

This card has been updated to also include Stanton.


COUNTDOWN TO IAE 2955

November 20 to December 3

IAE 2955 FAQ

What/when/where?

Annual major spaceship convention (and the biggest sale of the year). November 20 → December 3, at Orison in game, where you can see the ships in person, and rent any of them for 48H from a terminal.

BIS paints distribution

Asgard, Gladiator, Zeus ES and Polaris will receive paints. These will be attributed following the last day of the event. You must have the exact ships (no variants, IE Zeus CL/MR) to receive the paints. If you melt before distribution, you will not receive the paint.
There will only be one distribution.

F8C Lightning Pledge update

The F8C will become ‘available for pledge’ without a golden ticket this year - no confirmation on if this includes CCU or not. If you ever turned in a golden ticket, or have a Wing Commander F8C, you will receive a “Nightweaver” livery on Anvil day (cannot be gifted).
This is a one time distribution, however as above - you only needed to have turned in the ticket to receive this paint.

Hull A/B, Raft, Railen pricing

Pricing for these ships will increase following IAE. If you would like one, this will be an ideal time to secure a cheap CCU to lock in a lower price.

Engineering T1 Clarification

Armor

The current focus is on getting the “flow” right. With damage, fire and repair the aim is a nice mix of good gameplay and fulfilling the Star Citizen Fantasy. Until CIG is “happy enough” with the current features, nothing new, such as armor, will be added to the mix.

Components being damaged immediately will be affected but not be “fixed” with the armor system. CIG prepared engineering to work without armor, but “clearly it does not yet”. Right now, there is a balancing discrepancy to be fixed, that should bring the TTK with components to a better level. “The idea is Engineering will increase the life time of ships.”

Relays

Relays have undergone a rework. They still connect the ship components, but if you lose all the fuses in a relay it will not completely cut power to those components anymore. The reason stems from some ships being built in a way where destroying a single relay will cripple the entire ship.

Now once all fuses are destroyed or depleted, the relay will go into a “red” state and the available power in the ship will drop. Depending on the ship size and the amount of relays present, this can have a significant impact on your ship.

Engineering Ready Ships

Not every ship will be engineering ready for the initial T1 release. More ships will be converted patch by patch.

Key Points covered in video

Vulkan Status:

  • The current Tech Preview version of Vulkan in Star Citizen already includes all main features, including multi-threading. Further optimizations developed for Squadron 42 will be brought to Star Citizen in a future patch. <:soon:1326702302664593480>

Upscaling & Frame Generation:

  • DLSS4 upscaling is available in the current preview, but frame generation has not yet been integrated and is planned for a future patch.

Texture Settings Explained:

  • Low: 50% resolution
  • Medium: 75%
  • High: 100%
  • Very high/ultra: Adjust how much is streamed in advance and extra detail loaded. This means lower settings reduce texture resolution to save memory, while higher settings improve detail and streaming quality.

Global Illumination (GI):

  • GI is enabled, but ray-traced GI is not yet present. Some settings are not working fully in the preview, with indirect lighting not active as expected.

AMD vs Nvidia Optimization:

  • The CIG team optimizes for both AMD and Nvidia GPUs, testing across various specs.

    Official Minimum Specs Discussion:
  • The official minimum spec (i7-2600 + GTX 1060) is acknowledged by Ali Brown as outdated and not ideal. Performance on such old systems (e.g., in Levski or city areas) is poor—often sub-10 FPS—especially on AMD systems with less VRAM. The minimum spec will need updating as the project matures.

Why Levski Performs Poorly:

  • Levski is denser than other locations and presents ongoing technical challenges that the team is still investigating.

- Introducing dedicated engineering roles aboard ships, allowing players to actively manage power distribution, repairs, and system efficiency in real time.

Fire Hazards

- Bringing fire hazards to ships and environments, along with Fire Extinguisher mechanics, requiring players to manage and extinguish blazes before they spread.

Physical Helmets

- Implementing physical helmets in the persistent universe. Pick one up, rotate it, inspect every detail, carry it around, attach it to your hip, or toss it across a room if you want. When you equip a helmet, you put on or remove the same one you held in your hands, complete with a fully realized interior.

New Barrel Attachments

- Implementing a host of new barrel attachments with scorched/tweaker power levels, as well as a new tactical VOLT flashlight.

Vulkan Renderer Improvements

- Increasing both the stability and speed of the Vulkan renderer, with many crash fixes, diagnostic improvements, and multi-threaded render-submission, while adding support for HDR and NVidia's DLSS Transformer model. Also included is an overhaul to the Graphics Options, with many new settings, and a VRAM bar to help players configure the graphics for their GPU.

FPS AI Improvements

- Implementing improvements to FPS combat AI for smarter decision making, refined perception, and more reliable reactions in combat. This includes better cover use, grenade targeting, friend or foe checks, group awareness, and animation sync support to make encounters feel more tactical and responsive.
