In the latest 4.10 PTU patch for Star Citizen, several new ships have been added to the in-game shops, while the iconic Aurora Mark 1 has been removed. This removal aligns with the previously announced September 30th deadline after which players could no longer pledge for the Mark 1 Aurora, marking the end of its availability both in pledging and in-game purchases. Players who currently own the Aurora Mark 1 can still enjoy it until the next game wipe or the official 1.0 release, but new acquisitions of this model will no longer be possible.
Replacing the Aurora Mark 1 is the Aurora Mark 2, which is now available in locations where the Mark 1 was previously sold. The Mark 2 offers significant improvements over its predecessor, including better combat capabilities with four size two weapons and missile options, as well as enhanced cargo space and interior features such as a bed, suit locker, and personal storage. Additionally, modules for cargo and combat roles can be purchased separately in-game, allowing players to customize their Aurora Mark 2 to suit their needs.
Other notable ships added include the Drake Golemox, a small but efficient cargo ship with 64 SCU capacity and remote tractor beam functionality, making it ideal for quick hauling and resupply missions. The MISC Hull B, a much larger cargo hauler with an impressive 512 SCU capacity, also joined the shops, featuring a utilitarian design with crew quarters, multiple tractor beam turrets, and a spacious cargo area that can be extended for maximum storage. These additions broaden the options for players interested in cargo transport and logistics.
Ground and light fighter vehicles have also been introduced, such as the Greycat UTV, a versatile and affordable ground vehicle with a small cargo grid and seating for two, and the Kruger L22 Alpha Wolf, a light fighter priced higher than its predecessor, the L21, despite minor differences in performance and armament. The pricing discrepancy between the two Alpha Wolf models has sparked some confusion, with hopes that future adjustments may bring their costs more in line with each other. Weapon modules for these ships have started appearing in shops, though some are still pending addition.
Overall, the patch brings a mix of farewells and fresh options for players, with the Aurora Mark 1’s departure marking the end of an era and the introduction of new ships enhancing gameplay variety. While some ships and weapons remain unavailable for direct purchase, the additions represent progress towards a more complete in-game ship roster. Players are encouraged to acquire the Aurora Mark 1 soon if they wish to keep it and to explore the new ships and modules as they become available in the evolving Star Citizen universe.
