He explains that while the AI and player flight systems share the same underlying logic, differences lie mainly in decision-making processes to maintain readability and playability. The 3D map evolved from a static, abstract representation to a dynamic holographic-style interface with seamless zoom and sector transitions, balancing detailed information with performance and user readability.

A significant portion of the discussion focuses on the resource distribution and depletion system, which Matthias helped redesign to create a more dynamic and realistic economy. The new system introduces resource depletion and respawning in different locations, encouraging players to actively manage multiple smaller mining stations rather than relying on a single mega complex. Towards the end, Matthias reflects on his involvement in the Timelines DLC, which he initially pitched as a standalone concept before adapting it into a focused, short-scenario format integrated into X4. He values the creative freedom afforded by working on scenarios that do not affect the broader sandbox universe.
