Star Citizen's Best CPU! 7800X3D Review

“How well does the 7800X3D perform in Star Citizen? In this review I compare it to loads of different CPU’s including the 7950X3D to see how if it’s now the fastest CPU for Star Citizen!”

The 7800X3D CPU is reviewed in Star Citizen, comparing it to other CPUs. The testing is done at 1080p resolution, and the results are split into two categories: where the 3D V cache helps and where it doesn’t help as much. In scenes like quantum travel and space, the 7800X3D performs well and is comparable to the more expensive 7950X3D. However, in other scenes like Orisons and Levski, the 5800X3D drops in performance compared to other CPUs. In 4K testing, the CPUs still act as the main bottleneck, with little scaling. Overall, the 7800X3D is recommended as the best CPU for Star Citizen in terms of performance and price.

The 7800X3D is considered a better option for Star Citizen compared to the more expensive 7950X3D. While there may be cases where the 7950X3D is beneficial for work or production, for gaming it is not worth the extra cost. Additionally, turning off the non-3D V cache on the 7950X3D no longer improves performance. The 5800X3D is a good upgrade option for those on an AM4 platform, but for building a new system, it may be better to consider the 7800X3D. Although there have been some issues with the AM5 platform, such as motherboard problems and CPU overheating, they are being resolved and the AM5 CPUs are currently the best choice for performance and longevity in Star Citizen.

Overall, the 7800X3D CPU is recommended as the best choice for Star Citizen. It performs well in various scenes and offers good value for its performance. While the more expensive 7950X3D may have some merits for certain use cases, it is not necessary for gaming in Star Citizen. The 5800X3D is still a good option for those upgrading from AM4, but the 7800X3D outshines it for those building a new system. Despite some initial issues with the AM5 platform, the CPUs are currently stable and provide excellent performance for Star Citizen.
