Star Citizen patch 4.6 introduces numerous quality-of-life improvements, ship enhancements, new missions, and gameplay updates such as elevator riding in hangars, MOLE mining ship durability buff, and a new event tackling the Molina mold in Levski. Additional features include updated visuals for gimbals and weapons, expanded industrial career missions, improved salvage contracts, and night vision for ships, all contributing to a richer and more immersive player experience.
The latest Star Citizen patch 4.6 brings a host of subtle but impactful changes to the game, many of which flew under the radar. One notable quality-of-life improvement is the ability to ride elevator doors in your hangar, allowing smoother movement in larger spaces. Additionally, fire extinguishers now provide thrust in zero gravity, offering an innovative way to boost mobility alongside upcoming push and pull mechanics, which is particularly useful as EVA fuel limitations and armor restrictions come into play. New Kelzo shops have been added to Stanton city spaceports, making it easier to acquire fuses and med pens without long trips, although multi-tools and attachments are still missing from these locations.
The RSI Polaris received several enhancements, including a deployable basketball hoop and balls in the hangar, an upward-deploying power plant for easier engineering, updated signage, a new pool table, and CCTV with remote door controls in the captain’s quarters. The Argo Mole mining ship got a significant nose HP buff, improving its durability for mining operations. The Aurora also received upgrades with visible thrusters, weapon racks, and added windows in the bed area, though the cargo rack can no longer be removed. Varuck gimbals were visually updated, becoming larger and bright white, enhancing their in-game appearance.
A new event centered around combating the Molina mold problem in Levski introduces varied missions from combat to cargo hauling, with rewards such as ship skins, industrial tools, and an item fabricator. The event’s unique commodity, Molina mold, is stored in rare liquid containers, and some commodity containers have received grime detailing for added realism. Weapon swapping has been sped up, and sprinting out of med gun healing is now possible. Certain weapons and the max lift tractor beam have also received model and texture updates, improving their visual fidelity.
Several new industrial career path missions have been introduced, focusing initially on hand minables and later advancing to ship mining contracts with Schubin Interstellar. These missions require players to drop ore via outpost freight elevators, adding an extra layer of challenge. Night vision for ships, called light amplification, has been added, providing tinted windows that differ by manufacturer and improving visibility during nighttime runs. The star map now displays local minables, harvestables, and creatures for planets and moons, aiding players in resource gathering and exploration.
Salvage gameplay received updates with new contracts from Adiago Holdings, requiring the collection of RMC, construction materials, and ship components, including size zero parts likely obtained from ground vehicles. New smaller salvageable debris was added alongside existing larger panels. Ground vehicle missiles were overhauled and reclassified, significantly boosting their damage potential. Players can now place items like fuses directly from inventory again, and six multi-shields have been restored to provide their full HP pool, though with a reduced regeneration rate. Overall, these changes enhance gameplay depth and quality of life for Star Citizen players.
