Star Citizen’s revamped Siege of Orison enters 4.10 PTU with new four-player cap and instancing bugs

Star Citizen’s newly remade Siege of Orison event is now being tested in the game’s 4.10 Public Test Universe, and early reports suggest the overhaul brings both meaningful upgrades and significant technical headaches.

Developer coverage and player playtests indicate the event has been redesigned around small squads, with a strict four-player limit and a new instancing setup intended to make the mission more consistent than the original large-scale version. The revised mission is said to be accessible through the mercenary tab and includes updated objectives, stronger enemy encounters, new combat hazards, and quality-of-life changes such as checkpoints and medical beds.

The changes also appear aimed at closing off old exploits. Testers and coverage of the patch describe extensive glitch fixes and restrictions on how players can enter the activity. One report called the updated mission “insane” but frustrating, while another highlighted a solo run against aggressive NPCs under the new rules.

But the instancing system itself appears to be struggling in PTU testing. Multiple reports describe party members being split into different instances even when grouped together, along with overlapping hangars, blocked elevators, ship impounding, unintended ship destruction during spawn conflicts, players falling through the world, and general server lag and desync.

Some testers also say the mission can be derailed by lobby disruptions, including players going AFK in ways that block elevators and make access difficult. The shared server load appears to remain a problem even with private instances, with one playtester saying performance issues persisted during peak activity.

A Star Citizen Live episode also showcased the Siege of Orison relaunch, with developers highlighting a transit platform, improved instancing, and updated gameplay mechanics while they continued to discuss bug fixes.

Overall, the 4.10 version of Siege of Orison appears to be a substantial redesign of one of Star Citizen’s most recognizable events. For now, though, PTU players are finding that the mission’s new structure is being undermined by the same kinds of technical issues the overhaul was meant to solve.
