A wipe seems completely reasonable given the crazy amounts of money washing around due to mechanics that were clearly not completely thought out. It doesn’t matter if it was their fault, it’s a de facto situation that has to be resolved. If you prefer not to lose ships in this situation, buy more ships outside the game.
