Star Citizen is getting BASE BUILDING and Personal Hangers! (Citizen Con Reaction)

"Star Citizen starts work on base building very soon and I’m hyped. Part of this year’s citizen con, CIG showed off some incredible features coming to the game but two features I’m really hyped for are base building and personalized hangers with ground vehicle elevators. Who isn’t hyped for this stuff?! It’s game-changing! "

In a Citizen Con reaction video, it was announced that Star Citizen will be introducing base building and personal hangers. The video demonstrated how freight elevators will change the way players interact with their hangers, allowing for inventory management and storage. Hangers will become persistent and personal, allowing players to stay there as long as they want and leaving items behind that will persist. This is a significant quality of life improvement as it eliminates the need to collect vehicles and allows players to have a dedicated base of operations.

The announcement of base building was met with excitement and enthusiasm. Players will be able to build their own bases in different locations, each with its own security level. High security bases require purchasing land and are invulnerable due to planetary shield technology. Low security bases are owned by independent corporations or factions, and medium reward bases have no protection other than what the players build. Building bases will be a multiplayer experience, as players can work together to gather resources and build high in resource-rich areas.

To facilitate base building, the game will introduce blueprints, which players can acquire through reputation rewards, missions, or rare NPCs. Materials ranging from common to ultra-rare will be required for fabrication. Location selection is also an important aspect of base building, with different zones offering different levels of resource availability. Taxes will be imposed on owned land and failure to pay taxes will result in the loss of base protection.

The base building process involves placing buildings using a surveyor tool, with different building sizes available depending on the player’s tools and vehicles. Players can switch between different modes to view resources, link power generators to consumers, and construct multiple buildings before finalizing them. Furnishings can be purchased or fabricated, and different building types, such as garages, landing pads, and storefronts, can be constructed. Extractors, power generators, producers, and defense structures are also options players can incorporate into their bases.

The development of base building is set to start in Q1, marking an exciting and highly anticipated addition to the Star Citizen game.
