Star Citizen AMA | My Body is Ready for 3.11

The Star Citizen AMA covered a range of topics including the excitements on 3.11’s missile counters and armistice zone alterations, cargo decks, docking and vehicle compatibility, alongside the anticipated introduction of new ship designs like the cargo ship and Mercury Starrunner. The shift towards Vulkan from DirectX 12, UI improvements, the physical inventory system alongside iCache and expanded criminal missions, were also discussed.

During the AMA, discussion topics included expectations for the Star Citizen 3.11 update and additional features, with a focus on missile counters and the alteration of Armistice zones. These changes will allow for shooting within these zones and introduce defence turrets. There was also mention of a heat-driven crime system, allowing for potential assault on space stations and leading to an interesting dynamic for player interactions. Further speculation included more missions associated with this new gameplay.

The AMA also included a discussion around cargo decks with the expectation that it will be a point of interest but not bring much new gameplay. However, there was a hope for more mission types to be added. Queries about docking and vehicle compatibility were addressed, with features potentially becoming available in several patches’ time with no specific date given. The last Inside Star Citizen update (until around 22nd October) was also referenced.

Regarding ships, there was speculation around ship designs and availability in upcoming releases, such as the cargo ship and the Mercury Starrunner. The expectation is that these will be implemented within the first wave PTU for 3.11. There was also mention of a continued focus on homestead and points of interest creation, with the Pyro and Crusader system mentioned as potential areas of focus.

User questions touched on a range of topics including the video transcription log migration, player UI improvements, NordVPN wizards, Oculus and Vulkan integration for Star Citizen, potential ship sales, and medical gameplay. A reiteration was made that CIG are moving entirely over to Vulkan, not DirectX 12, with the hope that Vulkan integration will be ready for the end of the year.

Lastly, there was a brief mention of the physical inventory, envisaged as being able to take off armor and store it in specific places within a ship. Anticipation was voiced for the physicalized inventory system alongside iCache and general network improvements. The addition of random encounters and expanded criminal missions was also discussed.
