Star Citizen Alpha 4.4.0 Open to ALL WAVES! Big Updates & New Ships!

Star Citizen Alpha 4.4.0 is now open to all players on the PTU, featuring performance improvements, new missions, special “Teachers” versions of industrial ships, and additions like the Vandal faction, with the full live release expected before the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo. The update also includes UI enhancements, ongoing gameplay balancing, and community events, building excitement for upcoming ship sales and in-game activities.

The Star Citizen Alpha 4.4.0 patch has been opened to all waves as of November 11, 2025, allowing all players with a game package to access the new build on the PTU. This update brings significant improvements, including performance optimizations in the Nyx system—especially around Levki, which had been problematic—and the addition of new missions. The patch also introduces new ships to in-game shops, such as the Asgard, Starancer TAC, MTC, Prowler Utility, Guardian MX, and Meteor, with special versions available through Wiccolos. However, the highly anticipated Idris has yet to appear in shops, though it is expected soon.

A notable feature in 4.4 is the introduction of special “Teachers” versions of industry-focused ships available at Levki, equipped with upgraded salvage modules and mining rigs. Ships like the Reclaimer, Nomad, Golem, Vulture, Fortune, Starer, and Argo Mole are part of this lineup, offering improved loadouts for industrial gameplay. Additionally, the Vandal faction and their tech smugglers have been added, along with a new mission set involving investigating a station under attack, though players are advised to wait for the live build to avoid bugs and incomplete content.

The Alpha 4.4 update is expected to go live between the weekend of November 11 and the 19th, just ahead of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo starting November 20. This timing allows for hotfixes and staggered downloads to avoid server overload during the concurrent free-fly event. The Frontier Fighters Finale event on the current 4.3.2 live build will conclude when 4.4 launches, so players are encouraged to complete all phases to secure permanent loot. There is some concern about potential bugs or performance issues with 4.4, but hopes remain high that the patch will be stable for the Expo.

The engineering tech preview is also set to open to a wider audience soon, with ongoing tweaks aimed at balancing gameplay, particularly increasing time to kill, which some feel is currently too high. Improvements include better UI elements like a search bar for ASOP terminals and enhanced ship damage control mechanics, emphasizing the importance of crew roles on larger ships. Community feedback will be crucial in refining this system before wider release.

Looking ahead, the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo promises new ship sales, including limited hulls like the Idris and Javelin, and various surprises. The schedule includes community events like the rebranded Atmo Social and ongoing Bar Citizen meet-ups, which foster player engagement and offer unique in-game rewards. The video also highlights a giveaway for a Gray Market Shiv ship bundle and encourages viewers to support the channel. Overall, the Star Citizen community is gearing up for an exciting period of updates and events.
