Star Citizen Alpha 3.22 Live Release Incoming - Master Mode Updates

Star Citizen Alpha 3.22 is about to be released, with updates on Master modes in Arena Commander, focusing on ship combat and flight mechanics. Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) encourages player feedback for these experimental modes and has made adjustments based on previous testing, while also retuning various ships and making weapon changes.

Star Citizen Alpha 3.22 is set to be released soon, with a patch watch from Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) providing updates on changes to Master modes. The AOA Sanok and Origin X1 are being tested in the 3.22 build, with some landing gear polish and bug fixes included. However, Shield components have been removed from most bikes without much explanation. The live build for 3.22 is expected this weekend, but it depends on achieving stability and resolving known issues before the holiday season.

CIG is focusing on Master modes in Arena Commander, where players can test experimental modes. They are seeking player feedback since these modes affect ship combat, flight mechanics, and Quantum travel. There are two modes: Nav mode, allowing fast travel but no access to Shields and weapons, and SC mode, which allows combat but restricts speed and travel options. CIG has made adjustments to enhance the combat experience based on feedback from previous tests, such as removing the requirement to reduce weapon size on gimbals.

In addition to Master modes, CIG has retuned several ships to assess their performance and role balance. The Gladius is an agile light fighter, while the Super Hornet is a sturdy medium fighter with impressive agility. The Buccaneer excels in speed but lacks maneuverability, and the Vanguard heavy fighter boasts high damage output and durability. Weapon changes include increased ranges and added spread to all weapons. Gatling guns will overheat to limit continuous firing.

CIG encourages players to provide feedback on Master modes, as it helps improve ship UI, such as making PIPs more visible against ship backgrounds. They plan to introduce UI scaling and options to disable PIP fading and use a single color for multiple weapon groups. Bullet speeds will also be changed in the future to improve combat mechanics.
