Star Citizen 4.7 is nearing its live release next week, featuring significant improvements to missions, inventory, crafting, ship mechanics, and mining, alongside enhanced performance and gameplay balance. The update also introduces new service stations, VR support developments, and numerous bug fixes, with further PTU patches expected before the official launch.
In this update on Star Citizen 4.7, Ryan (aka Mac) shares that the patch is still in the Public Test Universe (PTU) with numerous patches improving various aspects of the game. Although initially expected sooner, the official live release is now anticipated for next week, closer to the end of March. Ryan expects further PTU patches before the live release, which will include tweaks, balance updates, and other necessary changes.
Significant polish has been applied to the breaker stations and rock cracker missions, focusing on art, lighting, AI difficulty, performance, and mission reliability. Improvements also include increased server rock counts, better loot balance, and cleanup code enhancements to remove abandoned ships and vehicles faster. Additionally, players can no longer spawn at medical beds in these locations, helping maintain gameplay balance and immersion.
The inventory system has undergone major improvements with enhanced navigation, refined search functionality, and better visual elements, making it one of the best additions in 4.7. Crafting, the patch’s hero feature, has also received extensive updates such as blueprint improvements, stacking items, new ammo blueprints, UI enhancements, and quality-based stat changes. Ryan plans a dedicated video on how crafting will transform the Star Citizen persistent universe.
New service stations have been added in the Nyx system to aid players with refueling, rearming, and restocking, especially benefiting miners heading to the Keega Belt. Ships and vehicles have seen numerous adjustments including radar becoming a physical item, flight performance tweaks for heavy bombers, armor health increases, and missile damage rebalancing. These changes aim to bring ships closer to their intended values and enhance gameplay realism.
Other updates include engineering improvements like increased health for ship doors and elevators, core tech polish especially in Nyx, and changes to mining where ores now come in two qualities, affecting crafting resource availability. VR support continues to develop, with plans for a dedicated video exploring breaker stations in VR. As always, many bug fixes and crash fixes accompany the patch, with Ryan encouraging viewers to support his channel through his links and to stay tuned for further updates.
