Star Citizen 4.11 Preview Tests Expanded Nyx I Content, Contracts and Planet Tech
Star Citizen’s Alpha 4.11 preview builds are testing a broader set of planetary activities and locations on Nyx I, alongside the Genesis technology intended to change how worlds are populated and rendered.
Community reports from the Evocati test environment describe new biome-specific points of interest across the planet, including moisture farms, remote science outposts, logistics yards, security outposts, construction sites, campsites and outlaw supply caches. The locations are intended to provide a wider range of places to explore and to support missions closer to the planet’s surface.
The preview also adds transport- and science-focused contract types that can direct players to those sites, according to the reports. The new mission offerings are still in testing, and one presenter characterized their current structure as potentially repetitive while hoping for more distinctive objectives and rewards.
Resources and wildlife return to testing
A central element of the tests is the Procedural Generation Tracker, or PGT, which is described as handling the spawning and tracking of procedurally generated elements across the server mesh. Community coverage says the system has allowed mineable deposits, harvestable resources and planetary fauna to return after those features were disabled in earlier preview builds because of compatibility issues.
That could restore mining and harvesting loops for players exploring Nyx I on foot, while making the environment feel more populated. The full scope and performance of those systems will remain subject to further testing.
Genesis systems target denser, more varied worlds
The planned Alpha 4.11 update is slated to include the first rollout of Genesis core technology. Its roadmap lists Planet Tech V5, which reworks planetary generation, terrain shading and the placement of environmental assets, as well as Starchitect, a procedural system for placing locations built from modular components.
Nyx I, the inner planet of the Nyx system, is planned as one of the update’s major locations. Roadmap material describes it as a once-difficult-to-terraform world that now supports a diverse ecosphere. Preview footage and commentary have highlighted changes to terrain blending, foliage, lighting and the visual transition between biomes.
Alpha 4.11’s roadmap also includes other Nyx-system planets and a Starchitect mission pack, but the content described in preview coverage remains work in progress. Cloud Imperium Games has not established a final release date for the update in the supplied material.
