In this video, SaltEMike discusses the 3.22 patch notes for Star Citizen. He mentions that he wasn’t able to stream the game the previous night due to sleeping in his house, but he plans to start doing so in the future. He goes through the testing focus of the patch, which includes the return of Jumptown 2.1 and a restrop of the original three locations. He also mentions stability testing, new player hair, and changes to multi-crew and Arena Commander. He expresses his frustration about features not yet ready for feedback and testing, but understands the need to avoid previous issues that occurred during the December holiday break.

One of the main features of the patch is structural salvage, which allows players to transform salvaged metal into refinable material. This update brings additional functionality to two salvage ships, the Dr vulture and the Aegis reclaimer. Mike expresses disappointment with this feature, as it essentially turns the salvaged metal into a different type of resource rather than a more complex crafting mechanic as initially shared on the roadmap. He also mentions some issues with the new gameplay mechanics, such as a balance problem with the reclaimer ship becoming soloable due to the introduction of buffer storage.

Other changes mentioned include new keybinds, a player hair update that adds 20 new styles, and the implementation of procedural weapon aim recoil and FPS compatibility. Force reactions have been adjusted, sniper rifles have been rebalanced to avoid one-shotting heavy armored players, and changes to player health, damage modifiers, and medical have been made to increase the time to kill and improve consistency in firefights.

In terms of bug fixes, AI falling through floors and stairs should be improved but can still happen occasionally. The patch also includes various UI updates, performance optimizations for AI on foot, crash fixes, and improvements to multi-crew and spawn locations in Arena Commander. Mike hopes that structural salvage will be further developed in the future and hopes to see more mining-related content in the game.
