Nice to C You - [The Hull C: 2016-2022]

"Side note:

The bit I was hinting at with the Hull A ending is: They don’t have a solution for the sliding physics grids currently. (If they use the no-clip fudge of the Hull A for the moving rear section, you’re just going to fall out when"

The Hull C, a cargo ship, is set to have a module called the Missed Call C for trading. The release of the Hull C is expected to be separated by two to three months. The ship’s interior design has progressed from the blockout phase to the art production phase. Assets from other ships have been utilized, allowing for quick and efficient creation of spaces. These assets will be used across the entire Hull series.

Progress is also being made on the Hull C’s cargo functionality, with the first test of cargo 0.2 planned for the ship. Several technological requirements needed to be met before the Hull C could be released, including the implementation of a physics grid in the central spine area of the ship to prevent players from falling into space.

The ship station docking and multiple physics grids have been implemented, bringing the Hull C closer to a reality. However, there is still work to be done, such as adding gravity to the central spine area and addressing the lack of air inside the ship.

The shipbuilding pipeline has continued to evolve, and updates have been made to materials, signage, and general scale to improve player and NPC comfort. Cutaways have been implemented for new components developed since work on the Hull C was last undertaken.

In addition to the cargo refactor, the team has also been working on new tractor beam and remote camera UI, which are being developed using building blocks technology. The aim is to allow players to effectively operate the unique Hull C in the persistent universe.

Although the smaller Hull A is scheduled to arrive first in Alpha 3.17, the progress of the Hull C will continue to be monitored as it moves toward completion.
