New handyman contract guide | Star Citizen 4.0.1 PTU

The latest update for Star Citizen Alpha 4.0.1 introduces handyman maintenance contracts that allow players to undertake various tasks in the Pyro system, although they face challenges due to misleading objectives and bugs in the gameplay. Players are encouraged to report issues and share their experiences, while hoping for future updates to improve the overall experience of these new contracts.

In the latest update for Star Citizen Alpha 4.0.1, currently available on the PTU, players are introduced to new handyman maintenance contracts that enhance the gameplay experience. These contracts allow players to take on various odd jobs across the Pyro system, adding a layer of decision-making to their missions. Players can choose between quick contracts, such as Arrow Salvage, or more involved tasks that require gathering specific supplies like Cambio SRTs and fuses at locations like the Stanton Gateway Platinum Bay.

However, the initial build of these contracts has some misleading objectives. While the contracts state that players need to replace two fuses, they actually require at least three fuses per box. Players are advised to bring plenty of fuses to avoid complications. Additionally, attempting to take fuses from non-mission units at the job site will result in a failure of the mission objective, adding to the challenges players face.

Once the fuses are gathered, players must proceed to repair pipes using either the Cambio SRT or the SRT light module with their multitool. Unfortunately, this aspect of the gameplay is currently plagued with bugs. For instance, players may find that even with a full inventory of RMC canisters, the game may not register their items, leading to frustrating scenarios where players resort to using parts from their ships to complete tasks.

Despite the bugs, the new handyman contracts signify a positive step towards more comprehensive engineering gameplay within Star Citizen. The audio design during the repair process is noted as a pleasing aspect, although many players have experienced issues that prevent them from completing contracts successfully. The overall experience has been frustrating for some, particularly those attempting to capture gameplay footage.

The video encourages players to report any issues they encounter through the Issue Council and to share their experiences with the handyman contracts in the comments. The creator expresses hope that future updates will resolve the current bugs, allowing players to fully enjoy the new contracts and explore the potential of higher reputation handyman jobs. Until then, players are reminded to navigate the challenges carefully and remain aware of the existing bugs in the game.
