New Base Building, Server Meshing, Trade, Cargo & DLSS Info | Star Citizen News

Star Citizen developers shared details about upcoming features in a recent Bar Citizen event. The highlights include base building in 2024, server meshing implementation, updates to cargo mechanics, and the introduction of DLSS technology, along with a giveaway announcement and a message of gratitude to the community.

In a recent Bar Citizen event, Star Citizen developers shared some details about upcoming features in the game. The first topic discussed was base building, which is set to begin in the first quarter of 2024. The initial version of the base building system, called Alpha 323, is expected to be a preliminary setup or possibly involve the use of the RASAR tool. Additionally, players may be able to log in and out at outposts on planet surfaces, potentially serving as temporary homes or emergency locations. Outposts will eventually be buildable underground, allowing players to create hidden shelters and avoid environmental effects.

Server meshing, a crucial technology for seamless transitions between servers, was also mentioned. The developers stated that the critical phase of server meshing development has passed, and the first version will be implemented in Alpha 323. This likely refers to the tech preview channel testing, with the aim of releasing server meshing in the summer of 2024. DLSS 2, a technology that enhances performance, is also planned for implementation in the first quarter of 2024, while DLSS 3 will come later.

Regarding cargo mechanics, updates are expected in 2024. The method of loading and unloading cargo for the Hull series ships will be managed differently, although no specific details were provided. Real-time signage will be implemented in cities and the MobiGlas, displaying commodity pricing fluctuations. This will allow players to make informed decisions regarding trading. Lastly, there will no longer be predetermined routes for missions, as outposts will not always have the same types of commodities available. Instead, a more systemic model based on supply and demand will be implemented.

The video concludes with the announcement of a giveaway winner for a Drake Caterpillar LTI game package and a reminder that the Tobii Tracker 5, a head tracking device, is on sale. The creator expresses gratitude for the support in 2023 and looks forward to an exciting 2024. Viewers are encouraged to subscribe to the channel and join the community on Twitch.
