MASSIVE Capital Ship Tour and Event Thoughts

“I got lucky enough to hop on board the yet unreleased Idris capital ship in Star Citizen, the hero ship from the upcoming single player Squadron 42 campaign. However, it wasn’t seen without any drama.”

The speaker managed to get aboard one of the Idris M capital ships during a special event, but it was challenging to find and board the ship. They were invited by an organization called the Out Riders to join them in chasing and boarding the ship after spending hours searching. The ship’s interior was explored in detail, starting with the hangar bay, which was spacious and accommodated multiple ships. The tour continued through various sections of the ship, including the gym, flight operations area, brig, armory, crew quarters, med bay, and the impressive bridge.

Accessing different levels of the ship required navigating through various corridors, stairways, and ladders. The layout of the ship was described as spacious and strategically designed to prevent easy targeting in case of a boarding attempt. The tour included visits to the reactor room, cargo deck, crew mess hall, escape pods, and larger turrets. The bridge was highlighted as the most impressive part of the ship, featuring a captain’s chair with a commanding view and holographic displays.

The event to win the Idris M ship was described as having flaws, including the ship’s rarity and the difficulty in capturing it. Only two ways to win the ship were available: capturing it in-game or submitting a video judged by the developers. The rarity of the event led to frustration among players who spent hours searching for the ship without success. The event was also marred by instances of ramming and potential hacking, creating a negative experience for some participants.

The speaker acknowledged the challenges faced during the event, including suspicions of hacking and the limited accessibility of the ship. They expressed disappointment at not having a chance to win the ship but appreciated the opportunity to explore the ship’s interior. The event’s design flaws, such as the lack of automation in spawning the ship and the exclusivity of the event, led to mixed experiences among players. Despite the event’s shortcomings, the speaker hoped for better future events and the return of the Idris M for all players to experience.
