The Star Citizen 4.10 PTU update introduces key mission content with Reco Betaglia as a new instanced mission giver, alongside numerous bug fixes, performance improvements, and a combat balance pass, enhancing gameplay stability and player experience. Additionally, a teaser for the upcoming Kruger Stingray ship hints at a new fighter-class addition, while further content and fixes are expected in future patches leading up to the full 4.10 release.
In this update on Star Citizen’s 4.10 PTU, Ryan (aka Mac) discusses the latest patches and improvements, thanking his supporters and promoting Game Glass for enhancing gameplay. The 4.10 update is now open to all waves, allowing more players to try it, though Ryan advises newcomers to stick with the live build until the official release. The recent patches primarily focus on bug fixes and performance optimizations, with significant attention given to mission functionality and stability improvements.
One of the key highlights is the introduction of Reco Betaglia as a physical instanced mission giver. Initially, players faced issues with mission instances not loading correctly, but recent fixes have improved this, allowing players to engage with her missions properly. Reco offers three introductory story missions centered around the Nyx system, including mining, FPS gameplay, and locating special characters. Completing these missions unlocks repeatable tasks and special rewards, including custom ships like the Prospector, Golem, and Mole, with some missions currently disabled due to bugs that are hopefully being addressed.
Additional mission content has been added for Wikelo, featuring new tasks related to armor, weapons, and a ship. Notably, one mission requires players to craft an item to receive a blueprint for a custom ship, marking a first for mission types in the game. The update also includes a combat balance pass for the Siege of Morrison and numerous bug fixes addressing client and server crashes, inventory issues, and interaction problems, alongside ongoing efforts to improve performance by shifting particle processing from CPU to GPU.
Performance enhancements are a major focus, especially around social spaces like Siege of Orison, where frame rates have been problematic. The latest patch aims to resolve streaming issues, improve elevator and docking interactions, and fix visibility problems with trip mines. Other fixes include correcting item delivery from vehicle claims, ensuring UI elements reflect their proper states, and preventing players from bypassing objectives. These improvements collectively aim to make gameplay smoother and less frustrating ahead of the full 4.10 release.
Looking ahead, the roadmap indicates that Reco’s content is still tentative and may appear in a future PTU build or a 4.10.1 patch. Additionally, a teaser image hints at the upcoming Kruger Stingray ship, described as having three different operational states similar to other ships like the Reliant and Aurora M2. While details are scarce, this suggests a new fighter-class ship could be introduced soon. Ryan concludes by encouraging viewers to subscribe, follow his streams, and stay tuned for further updates as the 4.10 release approaches.
