Inside Star Citizen: Distribution Allocution

“What kind of gameplay can you expect from the first drop of Distribution Centers? Dive underground with us today as we explore the features targeted for their initial release in the upcoming Alpha 3.23 patch.”

In the latest Inside Star Citizen episode, the concept of distribution centers in the game was discussed. These centers are massive hubs owned by organizations that distribute goods. They offer a wide range of gameplay experiences, including delivery missions, combat, theft, and more. Players can expect high activity and the possibility of causing chaos in these locations. The distribution centers will be present in multiple locations throughout the Stanton system, each owned by different brands and with varying levels of friendliness or hostility towards players.

Inside the distribution centers, players will have access to various areas such as lobbies, sleeping quarters, kitchens, VIP spaces, and maintenance areas. The main body of the centers consists of a central warehouse, branching into side roads with cargo shops, storage rooms, worker rest areas, and security areas. Two wings equipped with cargo areas, shipping depots, and security doors are also present. While vehicles can be brought to the outside wings, they cannot be taken inside the main center due to blockades.

The type of player and their preferences will determine their activities in the distribution centers. Aggressive lawful players may defend the centers from hostile attacks, while non-aggressive lawful players might engage in delivery or hauling missions. Aggressive unlawful players can attempt all-out assaults or assassinations, and non-aggressive unlawful players may opt for stealthy theft missions. The response players receive when approaching a distribution center will vary depending on the facility, with some allowing social interaction and others requiring a mission to gain access.

The distribution centers aim to bring players together in various ways, with different missions and events happening simultaneously. The developers hope to provide a variety of gameplay options to cater to different playstyles, whether players prefer aggressive or passive approaches. Development of the distribution centers will continue, with more variety planned for future updates. Additionally, raid gameplay is being worked on, which will offer endgame content for players to enjoy.
