Roberts Space Industries is a spacecraft manufacturer within the persistent-world game “Star Citizen” and "

In this episode of Inside Star Citizen, the team focuses on developing modular space station interiors for the upcoming alpha 3.8. The aim is to create a variety of station options to bring more excitement and variation to the game. Previously, all stations felt the same, but now players can expect different experiences in each station, with variations in rooms, shops, and advertisements. While the stations fall under the same category of utilitarian style, the differences in layout and features provide a unique feel for each one.

One of the highlights of alpha 3.8 is the introduction of food courts in the star systems. The team showcases the development process of creating a food court, from bringing in the base prefab to adding overlays, lighting, and shop placements. The goal is to create a more open feel for the shops, with some spilling out onto the concourse to attract players and improve curb appeal. These new restaurant areas provide a solid foundation for future expansion and offer a larger space compared to the current restaurants.

The UI tech team has been working on their building blocks initiative, which allows system designers to create functional UI elements more efficiently. The vehicle features team utilizes this technology to develop annunciator panels for ships. These panels help pilots understand what’s happening inside their spaceships by displaying information such as heat, power, weapon and thruster status, shield status, proximity warnings, and more. The challenge was to gather all this information in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand manner.

With only four weeks until CitizenCon, the team aims to share updates without spoiling surprises. They assure viewers that they won’t miss out on Star Citizen’s continued development through panels and presentations. Additionally, a new free fly event will be announced to celebrate the release of alpha 3.7, which includes features like caves, harvestable resources, FPS mining, and mission sharing. This event provides an excellent opportunity to introduce friends to Star Citizen or explore the game’s spaceships freely.
