First Nautilus 0.1 Gameplay & Testing | Star Citizen Science & Fun 4k

In the video, the creator tests Mobile Defense Cannons (MDCs) in Star Citizen and finds that they do not function when placed inside ships like the Polaris but work effectively when deployed externally as remote air turrets. By positioning MDCs outside the ship near Grim Hex, combined with the ship’s Point Defense Cannons, they create a successful defense system capable of engaging enemy targets during combat.

In this video, the creator conducts a series of tests to determine whether Mobile Defense Cannons (MDCs) can function when placed inside ships, specifically the Polaris, in the game Star Citizen. Previously, they tested six MDCs placed on top of an A90 jump hanger and found that the MDCs did not shoot at enemies from that position. To further investigate, the creator installs six MDCs inside their Polaris ship, positioning two on each side of the bottom hanger and two on the top hanger. The plan is to open all hangers during combat and observe if the MDCs will engage enemy targets.

The initial combat test takes place during an LRT bounty hunting mission. Despite opening all hangers and even turning off the ship’s shield, the MDCs inside the Polaris do not fire at enemy ships. The creator also tries sitting inside one of the vehicles and cycling power systems, but the MDCs still fail to activate. From these tests, the conclusion is drawn that MDCs do not work when placed inside any vehicle or ship; they only function when deployed independently on the ground or in space.

With this understanding, the creator shifts focus to using MDCs as air turrets by deploying them outside the ship. They position six MDCs around the Polaris at a safe distance from the Grim Hex station, avoiding the armor zone where weapons and tractor beams are restricted. The Polaris itself is equipped with Point Defense Cannons (PDCs), which have limitations against larger ships but can engage fighters effectively. The deployed MDCs, combined with the ship’s PDCs, create a makeshift Nautilus 0.1 defense system.

During combat tests near Grim Hex, the deployed MDCs successfully fire at approaching enemy ships, including fighters and smaller vessels. The creator demonstrates that even when the ship’s PDCs are turned off, the MDCs on the deployed vehicles continue to engage targets. This confirms that MDCs can effectively function as remote air turrets when deployed outside the ship and not confined within hangers or internal spaces.

Finally, the creator tests deploying MDCs directly from the hanger using an MPUV tractor just outside the armor zone of Grim Hex. The MDCs again successfully engage enemy targets, confirming that they can operate within certain proximity to the station as long as they are deployed outside the armor zone. Overall, the video provides valuable insights into the tactical use of MDCs in Star Citizen, highlighting their limitations inside ships and their effectiveness as external air defense turrets.
