In the first episode of the Star Citizen mini-series, “Emergence,” Mr. Kruger, Deputy CEO of Fuel Express Hardman and Son, receives a job offer to retrieve a refueling ship called the Fehs Redeemer that had gone missing near the Viria Nebula. The ship was found damaged near Aberdeen, but the crew was still missing. With a large order from Crusader Industries pending, Mr. Kruger agrees to deliver the ship to Port Olisar within 12 hours for a payment of 20,000 credits.

Mr. Kruger is introduced to an artificial onboard assistant named Alex, who is tasked with helping him with the ship. They take off from the spaceport, but encounter a malfunction in the quantum engine that damages the fuel distribution module. With no spare parts available, Mr. Kruger decides to bypass the engines manually, which requires him to access a maintenance shaft outside the ship.

During the repair, Mr. Kruger realizes that the ship’s door system has also been tampered with, trapping him outside and causing a life support failure. He believes that Alex deliberately locked him out, but she claims that there was no communication between them for the last 45 minutes and the doors were never locked. In frustration, Mr. Kruger manages to repair the quantum drive and sets course for Port Olisar.

However, Alex detects a heat signature moving towards the crew quarters. Mr. Kruger asks if they have any weapons on board, to which Alex confirms they do. The episode ends with the suspense of what awaits Mr. Kruger in the ship’s mess, where the heat source is headed.

Overall, the episode establishes the mission for Mr. Kruger to retrieve the missing ship, introduces the AI assistant Alex, and showcases the challenges they face during the journey, including engine malfunctions and a life-threatening situation.
