Discover Star Citizen - Crossroads Of Crime Nexus System

The Nexus system, also known as the Crossroads of Crime, was discovered in 2445 and has a history marked by criminal activities and lawlessness. Despite attempts to reclaim control and establish infrastructure, Nexus remains a risky place for travelers due to its reputation as a hub for illegal activities and ongoing battles with criminal elements.

The Nexus system, also known as the Crossroads of Crime, has a rich history dating back to its discovery in 2445 by UN Navy pilot Dominic Thapper. Originally named UD s-244 5-3 d09, the system was later colloquially called Nexus due to its strategic location connecting lawless systems. Despite attempts to rename it to Haor, the name Nexus stuck as a reflection of the system’s condition over the ages, marked by criminal activities and lawlessness.

The system’s governance shifted over time, with the military initially trying to develop Nexus for its resources but facing budget constraints, leading to the sale of mining rights to the Hathor Group. Under Hathor’s control, Nexus became a hub for illegal activities, earning it the reputation as a center of the underworld. The criminal element thrived, taking advantage of the system’s lack of government oversight and exploiting the resources until the Hathor Group abandoned the system in 2672.

Following the Hathor Group’s departure, criminal packs moved in and established operations in the system, leading to a surge in illegal activities. The UEE attempted to reclaim Nexus in 2931, facing resistance from entrenched criminal elements. While progress has been made in establishing basic infrastructure and security, the battle for control of Nexus continues, with criminal elements still active in some parts of the system.

Nexus consists of several planets, each with its own unique characteristics. Nexus 3, once the central hub for the Hathor Group, is now classified for military personnel only after the UEE military established a presence there. Nexus 2 features a dense nitrogen-rich atmosphere, while Nexus 1 is a charred protoplanet with no valuable resources. Lago, a gas giant in the system, is known for its swirling colors and mysterious legends among the local Outlaw packs.

Despite efforts to restore law and order in Nexus, challenges persist, with settlements barricaded against criminal gangs and limited supplies. The system remains a risky place for travelers, with the importance of safe travel emphasized through staying in designated lanes, scanning surroundings, and keeping shields up. While progress has been made in reclaiming Nexus from criminal elements, the system’s history as a crossroads of crime continues to shape its present-day challenges and opportunities.
