Contaminated Spire Mineral Mission yields Huge Material Rewards & More

In Elite Dangerous, new missions have been added to the Thargoid Spire sites, allowing players to contaminate the Spire Refinery compound and disrupt the Thargoids’ operations. Completing these missions grants significant grade five ship materials and contributes to the ongoing war against the Thargoids, with potential long-term effects yet to be determined.

New content arrived in Elite Dangerous associated with the Thargoid Spire sites. These sites now have new one-foot missions attached to them, offering significant grade five ship material rewards upon completion. The missions also have a positive effect on the progress of the war against the Thargoids. Professor Palin has discovered a way to contaminate the Spire Refinery compound gathered from the tops of the new Thargoid Spire structures. He recommends inserting the contaminant back into the spires to disrupt the flow of the refinery that serves the Thargoid Titan Mega vessels. The first part of the mission involves gathering the required materials, while the second part requires inserting the contaminated mineral into the spire. Completing the second part rewards between 6 to 10 ship-based materials like biotech conductors, embedded firmware, or Exquisite Focus crystals.

This update introduces missions that involve on-foot actions and reward significant ship-based materials. It signifies a further integration of the Odyssey expansion with the base game, which is a positive development. Commander Mechan of the Axi has created a concise video explaining how to sabotage Thargoid spires, which can be found in the description below. Sabotaging a spire changes the normally calm environment and affects the Thargoids’ farming facilities. The long-term effects of spire sabotage are not yet known, but more information may be revealed on “Thar’s day.”

This sequence of events started almost a year ago when the Taranis Stargo arrived in the bubble along with seven more Titans. Each Titan took control of multiple systems upon arrival. If the rate of Thargoid attrition around Taranis continues, it may be the first of the eight Titans to lose control of all its systems. The Axi, particularly, are determined to make that happen. Once one Thargoid bubble is freed, it is only a matter of time before the others follow suit. Any new information will be shared in the future.
