Base Building will RE DEFINE How We Play Star Citizen

Star Citizen will soon introduce player-owned bases, allowing players to establish their own outposts in different locations with varying degrees of security. Players will need to acquire blueprints, gather resources, and oversee maintenance to enjoy the benefits of owning a player-owned base, with the full implementation of this feature expected to revolutionize gameplay in the game.

Star Citizen will soon be introducing player-owned bases, a highly anticipated and long-awaited feature. The concept for player-owned bases has been in the works for some time now, and development will officially begin in the coming year. There will be three possible locations for these bases - safe zones, low security areas, and lawless areas. Safe zones are protected by the UE and offer shielded buildings, but the resources there may not be very profitable. Low security areas will have some protection, but outposts will be destructible and taxes will be lower. Lawless areas will allow players to place outposts wherever they please, but they will also be destructible.

Maintenance will play a key role in the well-being of these player-owned bases. Players will have to oversee operations such as resource extractions and ensure that installations are properly fit and supplied. Outposts may become derelict if players abandon them or fail to pay taxes. The benefits of owning a player-owned outpost are extensive, ranging from having a nice house with a view to resource collection, item production, and trade.

To acquire and build these player-owned bases, players will need to acquire blueprints, which can be acquired through rare NPCs, mission rewards, or reputation rewards. The resources required for the construction of these buildings can range from basic resources to rarer resources or even complex components, which can be collected from the game environments or purchased in-game. Additionally, players will need base-building hardware, which will be available in four tiers - surveyor, ground vehicle, Galaxy, and Pioneer. This ensures that base building is accessible to both solo players and larger organizations.

Base building has been in the concept phase for some time and will enter full production in the first quarter of the upcoming year. More information will be revealed in future episodes of Inside Star Season and at next year’s Citizen Con. The introduction of player-owned bases is expected to revolutionize gameplay in Star Citizen and become a staple experience for players.
