The focus of Alpha 4.0 will be on the Pyro system, introducing new locations like Pyro 4, Pyro 5, Pyro 6, and Ignis. These locations will include moons, space stations, and outposts with a colonialism theme.
New gameplay mechanics and systems will also be introduced in Alpha 4.0, such as the Quasi Grazer animal, fire hazard system, engineering gameplay for ships, and life support systems. Players will be able to manage and repair various ship systems, deal with item degradation, malfunctions, and power management. The multitool will receive upgrades, allowing players to drain, store, and charge objects with power, as well as overcharge objects and remove distortion damage.
The transit system and mission system will be refactored to be compatible with server meshing capabilities, enabling multiple servers per shard and improving load distribution.
