The Star Citizen 4.3.1 update introduced the Apollo medical ship with many new features but also around 30 bugs affecting gameplay, visuals, controls, and interactions, including invincible ship parts, medical module issues, door and elevator glitches, and Arena Commander rental problems. Players are encouraged to report bugs, participate in a screenshot contest sponsored by Cloud Imperium Games, and stay engaged with the ongoing development while navigating these challenges.
With the release of Star Citizen 4.3.1, the long-awaited Apollo medical ship finally landed on live servers, bringing with it a host of new features but also around 30 bugs. The video dives deep into the various issues identified with the Apollo, many of which have already been reported to the development teams. Players are encouraged to share any additional bugs they encounter via issue council report IDs. Notably, certain parts of the Apollo, especially on the spine, are currently invincible to damage, an important point for awareness despite no immediate fix.
Several gameplay and interaction bugs affect the Apollo’s medical modules. For example, the tier 2 and 3 medical beds have med gel slots that cannot be overfilled, and refilling them can sometimes cause issues requiring bug reports. Mirrors in the ship’s modules and toilets do not reflect properly, and there is no sit interaction in the lavatory areas. Additionally, the Apollo and Meteor ships are placed in a separate RSI category in Arena Commander, making them currently unrentable, a regression from previous fixes. Radar casting while seated causes excessive flickering lights, and VTOL mode lacks proper thrust adjustments, complicating landings.
Control issues were also noted, including previous reports of co-pilot and pilot control conflicts and difficulties sitting in the co-pilot seat, although these were not reproducible in the latest release candidate. Visual issues include power distribution pips overflowing their columns when using powerful shield generators, an uneven engine trail causing a slight listing effect, and shadow glitches in medical bays that clear up after activating terminals. Interaction bugs also affect medical storage, with med gel prompts misaligned and med pens falling through medical fridges, complicating inventory management.
Door and access mechanics present additional challenges. Locking the bridge door while open does not actually engage the lock despite the UI indicating otherwise, requiring players to unlock and lock again. Prompt issues make locking doors difficult, but crouching and adjusting the camera angle can help. If locked doors are shot open, repairing is insufficient to fix them; players must claim the ship to reset cockpit doors. Also, the exterior lift and rear ramp lack interaction prompts, and the elevator can be called by anyone regardless of party status, with current elevator controls ignoring close-all-doors commands, highlighting several elevator state bugs.
Despite these issues, the video encourages players to engage with the Apollo and participate in a screenshot contest to win an Apollo triage package. The presenter thanks Cloud Imperium Games for sponsoring the prize and invites viewers to share their experiences with the Apollo, whether they embrace the medic role or prefer to avoid the complexities of med gel. The video closes with a reminder to stay vigilant for bugs and to fly safely in the evolving universe of Star Citizen.
