4.10 Salvage Bug Fix & Latest Instancing & Siege Or Orison Improvements & Issues | 4.10 PTU

The Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 PTU update introduces improved instancing and Siege of Orison gameplay enhancements, including more reliable medbeds and challenging NPC behavior, but still has issues like elevator malfunctions and a boss fight bug that can trap players. Additionally, a critical salvage bug fix now requires target ships to have their power plants disabled before salvage can occur, aligning the mechanic with intended gameplay and preventing exploitative rapid destruction of capital ships.

The Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 PTU update, as of August 11th, 2026, has not yet been confirmed for live release, with no clear date announced. The patch primarily focuses on improvements to instancing and the new Siege of Orison gameplay. Instancing has become more reliable, with the standby door opening consistently for all party members, but latecomers cannot join an ongoing instance, requiring them to create their own. This limitation remains in place, and it is unclear if it is intentional.

Medbeds within the Siege of Orison instances have seen improvements, working more reliably for player respawns. However, there is a significant delay when multiple party members die simultaneously; the first respawns quickly, but subsequent players must wait several minutes, ranging from three to five minutes or longer. Players are advised to be patient during this process rather than logging out, although waiting beyond eight minutes may indicate a problem. Unfortunately, elevators inside the Ironclad on the Hotmore platform remain broken and unusable.

NPC behavior inside the Siege instances is described as both entertaining and deadly. While general NPCs may exhibit quirky and amusing movements, the boss-level Mandarin NPCs are highly reactive, fast, and accurate, providing a challenging and intense combat experience. Players must use strategic tactics like careful peeking and hide-and-seek to survive these encounters. However, a bug persists at the end of the boss fight where killing the Mandarin prematurely prevents players from obtaining the necessary code to exit, effectively trapping them inside the instance.

The video also covers a critical salvage bug fix in 4.10. Previously, in patch 4.9, players could use the Reclaimer ship’s claw to “munch” or salvage ships even when their shields and engines were active, allowing rapid destruction of capital ships, which was likely unintended. The fix now requires that the target ship’s power plant be turned off before munching can occur. Shields alone being off is not sufficient; the ship must be fully powered down or have its power plant disabled to salvage it properly.

Testing with a TBR ship confirmed this change: when the ship’s power is on, the salvage claw shows a red silhouette indicating it cannot be used. Only after shutting down the ship’s power or disabling the power plant does the silhouette turn green, allowing the salvage process to proceed. This fix aligns with intended gameplay mechanics, ensuring that salvaging requires more effort and strategy. Overall, the 4.10 PTU brings important bug fixes and gameplay improvements, but some issues and uncertainties remain before the patch goes live.
