Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.1 introduces Sabre Raven EX and Nine Tails Akuma variant

Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.1 adds the Aegis Sabre Raven EX, a single-seat fighter designed to prevent opponents from escaping through quantum travel, alongside a Nine Tails-themed variant of Argo’s ATLS IKTI power suit.

The Sabre Raven EX combines the visual design of the original Sabre Raven with the armament of the standard Sabre. According to developer Cloud Imperium Games’ vehicle Q&A, it has four size-three weapon hardpoints and a Quantum Dampener, which prevents ships within its range from starting quantum travel. That differs from a Quantum Snare, which can pull ships already in quantum travel out of it.

The role places the Raven EX among a relatively small group of flyable ships equipped with quantum-dampening technology. CIG said the new model is faster than the standard Sabre and better armored than the original Raven, while sacrificing some of the Raven’s stealth-emission reduction and some of the Sabre’s agility. Existing Sabre paints are compatible with the new variant, the company said.

Nine Tails gear and a distinct IKTI variant

The patch also brings the Nine Tails Shogun bundle, featuring themed armor, weapons and cosmetics, including a Nine Tails-liveried Argo ATLS IKTI Akuma power suit.

CIG said the Akuma differs mechanically from the Argo ATLS GEO IKTI that can be earned in-game. The Akuma has Nine Tails-themed styling, plasma repeaters with splash damage, and a jump pack configured for greater travel distance and fuel capacity in exchange for a modest reduction in jump height.

The developer said the original GEO IKTI remains intended as an exclusively earnable in-game offering, while the Akuma was introduced as a separate variant in a pledge bundle. The decision has prompted debate among some players because the two versions do not share identical gameplay equipment.

Orison relief missions and patch changes

Alpha 4.10.1 also includes the limited-time Orison Relief Support event, in which players take contracts tied to rebuilding and defending Orison following Nine Tails attacks. Coverage of the update describes 14 contracts spanning resource collection, deliveries, crafting-related tasks and combat, with account-bound rewards including themed armor and weapon items.

Other reported changes include improved loot from creatures and plants, broader availability of weapon attachments, a soft-death state for ground vehicles, audio work for the Sabre line and fixes targeting contracts, vehicle retrieval and other stability issues. As with other alpha additions, CIG notes that vehicle features and balance are subject to change through testing and further development.
