The newly available page lets players add the game to their Steam wishlists and includes a new promotional trailer, screenshots and an outline of PC hardware requirements. The release window is a target rather than a firm launch date, and the developer has not announced a specific day. ## Trailer highlights cinematic campaign Squadron 42 is the standalone, story-driven campaign set in the same universe as _Star Citizen_. Its Steam description frames players as a rookie United Empire of Earth Navy officer caught up in a growing interstellar conflict. The trailer and screenshots show space combat, first-person action aboard ships and stations, character interactions, and hacking sequences. They also highlight the game’s capital ships and destructible environments, including Cloud Imperium’s Maelstrom damage technology. The campaign features a cast that includes Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Ben Mendelsohn, Henry Cavill, Andy Serkis and Mark Strong, among others. ## Preliminary PC requirements list 16GB of RAM The Steam page currently lists the following minimum specifications: - **Processor:** Quad-core Intel Core i7, Sandy Bridge generation or later; or AMD Bulldozer generation or later - **Memory:** 16GB RAM - **Graphics:** DirectX 11.1-compatible graphics card with 8GB of VRAM - **DirectX:** Version 12 - **Storage:** 150GB of available space Those requirements should be treated as provisional. In a community report following discussions at a Cloud Imperium event, a developer representative was said to have stressed that the minimum specifications were not final and that the team was targeting 60 frames per second on recommended hardware. That report also indicated that older graphics cards and models with lower video-memory capacity could face greater difficulty. The Steam listing also indicates that a third-party Robert Space Industries account will be required. It says the account can be linked with Steam. The Q2 2027 target follows an earlier 2026 release window announced by Cloud Imperium.
