Latest 4.10 PTU Update & Patch Report | Bug Fixes, Red Wind, Hull-B, Hull-C, Siege Performance

The latest Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 PTU patch introduces several notable issues and changes. One major inconvenience is the broken double-click functionality for equipping items, forcing players to manually drag items into equipment slots or use more time-consuming methods like holding left alt and repooling ammo. This regression in the inventory system is frustrating, especially during combat looting. Additionally, a new bug causes players’ movement speed to slow dramatically with an unnaturally rapid heartbeat, severely impacting gameplay, particularly in combat scenarios like the Siege of War. This issue remains unresolved and is not yet listed in the official known issues.

Regarding the Siege of War update, the Argo Alice Ikotine, previously part of the mission, was removed entirely due to bugs with it getting stuck in the ground. Players must now kill a specific boss inside the Ironclad to progress the mission, as skipping this boss causes mission bugs. The Siege gameplay itself was praised for its improved NPC AI and challenge level, with players needing to take cover and coordinate to survive. The final boss, Mandarin, was highlighted as particularly reactive and difficult, adding to the intensity of the experience. However, medbays remain inconsistent, sometimes failing to respawn players properly.

The patch also addresses some quality-of-life and bug fixes. For example, issues with selling ores in Clasher were resolved, and players no longer lose equipped gear when exiting Clasher. However, an audio glitch causing crashes was identified as a major blocker. The update also changes how ship insurance claims work, removing the ability to claim insured loadouts after a patch, which the community finds frustrating as it complicates re-equipping upgraded components after updates. This change was officially classified as a bug fix, though many players see it as a step backward.

Testing of cargo haulers Hull-B and Hull-C revealed mixed results. Hull-B’s auto-loading system now displays timers and fees based on box sizes, with larger boxes costing less and loading faster—a helpful improvement for cargo traders. The Hull-C received a “box” gameplay mechanic, but its missions appear neglected, with the Ironclad and Railen ships favored instead, possibly due to marketing focus. This has led to concerns that Hull-C will continue to be overlooked in favor of other ships, as proper missions for it are currently lacking.

Finally, the update introduced new ships and modules available for purchase in-game, including the Aurora Mark I, Gollum Ox, Graycat UTV, and MISC Hobby. Prices were detailed, with the Aurora Mark I costing under 1 million AUEC and the Gollum Ox priced at 1.1 million AUEC. Overall, while the 4.10 PTU build brings some exciting content and improvements, it also introduces frustrating bugs and regressions that impact gameplay, particularly in inventory management and player movement, which the community hopes will be addressed before the live release.
